After serving nine months behind bars, rapper Kevin Gates is a free man. The publication reports that a representative from the Illinois Department of Corrections has confirmed that Gates will be out on parole and “his release conditions include mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms.” Needless to say, Gates was all smiles when he emerged from the facility.

Shortly after being released from prison, Gates took to Instagram with his first official post. He shared a post of a mem that simply read, “I’m Him.” In addition to the first post, Gates also deleted all of his previous Instagram posts. For those who don’t remember, “I’m Him” is exactly how Gates ended his last post before going to prison. So, although it looks like he’s picking up where he left off, he’s also starting fresh. In a short period of time, Gates’ latest post has gained more than 300,000 likes and over 50,000 comments from adoring fans welcoming the rapper home.

Of course, fans are probably expecting Gates to drop a new mixtape or album in the near future, but that’s not all he’s doing. According to XXL magazine, Kevin Gates’ lawyer Herschel Rush, recently revealed he will be also focusing on community involvement in the near future. The embattled rapper’s hope is that he can help other youths avoid facing the same types of problems he’s faced. He will reportedly be devoting “considerable time and resources” to various organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of America.

Speaking with TMZ, Gates’ lawyer Herschel Rush insists that his client will devote “considerable time and resources” to talking to at-risk teens in an attempt to dissuade or flat-out prevent them from making the mistakes he’s made in the past. He plans to reach out to various organizations to make his impact, with one of them being the Boys & Girls Club.

It looks like Gates will be focusing his attention on more positive things and many youths could benefit from Gates’ efforts.
