When Missy Elliot first came out, she was original, raw, and a rarity in hip hop as she was a super star that was plus sized. However, the more famous she got, Missy Elliot felt that a double chin was not good for the red carpet. So, she decided to do something about it.

Looking beautiful as ever, for the past 4 months, Missy Elliot made some sacrifices and it did her body good. Acknowledging that she has a sweet tooth, the Virginia-born rapper revealed how she was able to shed weight quickly. At one point in her life, Missy was addicted to sugary drinks such as juice and pop. However, Missy decided to make some changes in her diet that took some dedication on her part.
With a new outlook on life, Missy has become a firm believer in the famous rule of 8 regular sized glasses of water per day, if not more. According to Ashley Koff, RD, who has worked with Hollywood actresses and Olympic athletes, soda (packed with either sugar or artificial sweeteners, coloring and flavorings as well as excess caffeine), gluten-rich bread and sugary fruit juice are among the worst offenders for your skin. By committing herself to drinking water, not only did Missy lose weight, she also acquired more energy. Not only does Missy no longer feel sluggish but drinking water has done wonders for her skin.

This isn’t the first time that Missy lost a considerable amount of weight. Back in 2011, Missy Elliot had dropped off the music scene and fans soon learned that she was suffering from debilitating Graves’ disease.
Missy Elliott Lost Weight Due To Graves’ Disease:
During the 90’s, Missy Elliot was one of the leading ladies of hip hop. Known for her originality, Missy Elliot been writing and producing for other artists as well as working on her own albums. However, around 2011, the four time Grammy winner had disappeared from the spotlight. Fans soon learned that Missy was privately battling Graves’ Disease, an autoimmune illness that affects the thyroid.
People magazine shared that Missy was diagnosed in 2008. She first learned she had the disease as it began affecting her motor skills, followed by a string of symptoms such as dizzy spells, lumps in her throat, mood swings, hair loss, a fast heart rate, and bulging eyes.
I couldn’t write because my nervous system was so bad – I couldn’t even use a pen, Missy shared.
Determined to be a fighter, Missy took her doctor’s orders as she began to change her lifestyle. Combined with medicine, radiation, and cardio, Missy feels great at 46 years old.
I feel great, said Elliott, in her 2011 VH1’s Behind the Music. Under my doctor’s supervision, I’ve been off medication for about a year and I’m completely managing the condition thru diet and exercise.
