Da Brat Celebrates Freedom By Throwing Prison Themed Party With Celebrity Friends
It’s been a long road but veteran rapper Da Brat is no longer on probation. After serving a 3 year prison sentence, following a 7 year probation period, Da Brat celebrated with her friends and family, as she is finally “off papers.”
Da Brat Celebrated Being Off Probation With A Prison Party:
Rapper Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, is celebrating being a survivor, as she no longer is on probation. In August of 2008, Da Brat plead guilty to felony aggravated assault and she was sentenced to three years behind bars, seven years of probation and 200 hours of community service.
Since her release in 2011, Da Brat kept her nose clean and reinvented herself as a co-host of the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” Additionally, Da Brat played Cleo on the Broadway stage play, “Set It Off.” While the road was long and hard, Da Brat has come out on top. Surrounded by her friends and family, the So SO Def rapper proclaimed that she would have no more mug shots.
LisaRaye, Bow Wow, And Jermaine Dupri Were All In Attendance At Da Brat’s Prison Party:
When Da Brat was released from prison, she shared with BOSSIP that she had no plans of going back. While she handled her own in prison, Da Brat revealed that she didn’t want to glorify it because it’s a place that no one would want to go. Despite the fact that she never wants to be behind bars again, Da Brat embraced her past by throwing a prison themed party to celebrate her freedom.
With Da Brat’s mug shots as center pieces, guests were asked to wear prison attire. Many party goers dressed in orange or rocked khaki colored dickies. In addition to the attire, guests dined on prison food, such as Ramen noodles and cheesy tuna noodles. Keeping with the theme, Da Brat had two bunk beds along with black and white decor. Her sister, Lisa Raye, was in the house along with Jermaine Dupri and Bow Wow. Deb Antney was in attendance, as was Da Brat’s manager, Lucy “Juice” Raoof.

WeTV’s “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” captured the party on film and Da Brat thanked them for bringing for vision to life. While Da Brat’s professional career seems to be rising, as she is getting ready for the So So Def tour, her financial problems are rising as well, as she was sued by the woman she allegedly attacked 11 years ago.
Here’s What Happened At Jermaine Dupri’s Halloween Party At Studio 72 Nightclub:
According to reports, Da Brat got into a heated confrontation with one of the club’s waitresses, former NFL cheerleader Shayla Stevens. During their altercation, it is alleged that Da Bart struck Stevens in the face with a bottle of rum, causing numerous cuts on her face. Stevens’face was reportedly seriously injured. The attack allegedly caused brain damage, permanent scars, and mental pain. While in prison, Da Brat was sued by Stevens who was awarded $6.4 million. Da Brat has yet to pay Stevens any money, as she has always maintained her innocence.
