[Video] Rick Ross Reflects Meeting Obama: ‘He Invited Me…While On Ankle Monitor’
People can say what they want about Barack Obama, but as president, he was a real dude. Rick Ross reflects on the time he was invited to the White House.
In a recent interview with Big Boy, Rick Ross laid it out plain and simple. According to Ross, he’s got nothing by love for former President Barack Obama.
Even in Rick’s troubles…
If you recall, Rick was fighting a kidnapping and assault case at the time, reports XXL. He ended up getting off with 5 years probation. However, the ankle monitor was one of the conditions as well.
The ankle monitor. No, like Rick Ross is a legend in so many ways. Very inspiring Instagram picture. pic.twitter.com/2Mf7eL6wv4

Yet, regarding his meet, Ross elaborates as follows.
“You know, first and foremost, I saluted the ‘Big Homie’. I said, ‘He invited me in the White House while I’m on ankle monitor, fighting a life sentence, 12 felonies’…but he knew my position. I think he [understood] who I was, and the conversation that was had was less about his position and more about our positions in the street as role models. You know, it was just some big boy talk.”
Although this particular meeting happened in 2016, Ross holds it relevant today.

Too, Ross says he wasn’t the only one in the room. Essentially, it was a meeting of the minds. Rick Rozay recalls the following names as being active participants in the room as well:
- Swiss Beatz
- DJ Khaled
- Busta Rhymes
- Chance the Rapper
- and Janelle Monáe.
“I thank the Big Homie, Barack Obama, for taking that time out and for bringing some young brothers and sisters together,” Rick Ross expresses.
Ross further explains that they were discussing topics regarding entrepreneurship and how to get those faculties developing within the rappers’ regional communities.
Then, this happens…
He says he was sitting back and enjoying the conversation…that is, until his ankle monitor begin to go off during the meeting.
“It went off. And, I look to my left, and a Secret Service person [pauses]…because we’ve got no electronics, so there’s nothing that’s supposed to be beeping…I ain’t gon’ say what happened next. But, they most definitely had to ‘look into it’.”
It must’ve gotten real serious, real quick!
New York Daily News says the bracelet actually broke a moment of silence, shortly after Obama finished talking. The source also says Ross wasn’t alarmed by the beeping because it goes off at random times.
But apparently, Secret Service was alarmed.
You can catch the full interview here.
According to New York Daily News, the meeting was part of President Barack’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative.
For those who don’t know what that is and say Obama’s never done anything for the Black community, he ensured that $1.5 billion was dedicated to this initiative which caters to the advancement of “young boys and men of color,” as reports Rolling Stone.
That’s just one thing. He’s done many others.
Oh, and moreover, the source mentions other artists in the room that Ross didn’t mention in the interview:
- Pusha T
- Nicki Minaj
- Alicia Keys
- and Common.
